The only
sign of struggle at the scene of the crime is a tiny
artificial Christmas tree found on the floor, bent sadly
out of shape. Two city officials have been murdered,
the town’s two-man detective squad needs help, and
newly-elected Councilwoman Joyce Fellmeyer enlists the
services of retired detective Brady Kincaid. Brady brings
seventeen years experience investigating homicides and soon
learns the link between the victims is their nasty fight
over rezoning and demolishing Pride Park, Early’s beloved
centerpiece. Working with Early’s detectives and Pozy,
local reporter who writes like a poet and drives like a
maniac, Brady is faced with trying to solve cases with a
town-load of suspects and too little evidence. Twelve-inch
snowdrifts, a suffocating hatchway, and bending the law a
bit, make a holiday break Brady Kincaid will never forget.
Readers Comments
“I
loved the story . . . the characters were very real and
easy to relate to. . . living in a small town, I could see
shop owners and city government workers resemble people I
know. . . .”
Renee L., Medina, OH
“Early’s
Pride is another keeper. . . held in suspense until I
finished . . . unable to literally put it down. I predict a
wonderful career for Ms. Allen if she keeps writing as her
first two books have shown.”
Danise W., Wild Rose, WI
“.
. . kept me on the edge of my seat. . .The content of the
book flowed smoothly and it was easy to picture what was
going on. You could almost imagine yourself in the same
room with the characters.”
Connie E. Greenfield, Iowa
“.
. . easy to settle in and get involved with the story line.
I couldn’t put the book down until I finished the last
chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can’t wait until
On the Chopping Block comes out.”
Jan W., Albertville, AL
“Early’s
Pride was an easy read. It held my interest with all the
twists to the plot. The ending had a fascinating outcome. I
suspected some things early on in the book, but wasn’t able
to put them all together until the end.”
Rose S., Milwaukee, WI
“Reading
Bobby Jaye Allen’s new book, Early’s Pride, is like running
into old friends.. . . Ms. Allen makes good use of
Geraldine’s inter-view with the murderer in the epilogue to
tie up a few loose ends. I look forward to reading her next
book.”

EARLY’S PRIDE, “as in most cozy type mysteries
relies primarily on character development and sleuthing.
The list of suspects is long and the trail often confusing
as many citizens are far different than what they appear to
be.
The story is very entertaining and the novel is a fine
example of what can be done with a cozy type of mystery.”
