This mystery is the first in the series by Bobby Jaye Allen and introduces Detective Brady Kincaid and the Carroway cousins, Claudia and Joyce. Discovery of the campusEvery First Saturday beauty queen’s body in the women’s dormitory and an early blast from the town’s tornado test warning siren make it business unusual on First Saturday for Brady Kincaid, Chief of Security at Lombardy Teachers College. Few shed tears learning Cy Sweetly was strangled. Some say the murdered girl got what she deserved—Death! Even the men who loved her most had reasons to kill her. Uncovering the coed’s twisted double life provides motives and suspects. But the murder weapon’s trademark is the most troublesome clue—a symbol resembling a bolt of lightning. While the college prepares homecoming events, sororities plan rush tactics, and it’s faculty politics as usual, Brady wades through a maze of red herring and alibis. Learning this homicide is eerily similar to another murder still unsolved after twenty years, Brady hustles to nail the killer before the wrong girl is crowned homecoming queen and someone gets away with murder again.
